NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois –  Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that the City of O’Fallon, in conjunction with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, will host a blood drive at the O’Fallon Public Library, 120 Civic Plaza, on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 3 – 6 p.m.

“If all blood donors would give two to four times per year, it could help prevent blood shortages,” said Mayor Graham. “Giving blood can make a big difference in the lives of others.”

Please, register for the O’Fallon Blood Drive at www.bloodcenterimpact.org using sponsor code 10383

Donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds.  Please hydrate well and eat a full meal within four hours of donating, avoiding fried, fatty foods, and whole dairy products.  If you are giving whole blood, it must have been eight weeks since your last donation. You must bring donor card or a photo ID in order to donate.

All donations will benefit patients in the region served by the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center which provides services to local hospitals including Memorial Hospital and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
