State Street Railroad Crossing OPEN to Traffic
O’Fallon, Illinois – The State Street railroad crossing is now OPEN to traffic. The crossing has been closed since November 2, 2015 for the reconstruciton of the vehicle crossing.
The reconstruction consisted of the removal of the old road crossing and rails, and installation of a new segmental concrete crossing. This allows vehicles to travel more smoothly across the tracks.
The sidewalk, currently under construction, will be completed up to the new concrete crossing panels to allow for pedestrians to travel on the new sidewalk along State Street, connecting the downtown area to the Family Sports Park.
