JOB POSTING: Facility & Grounds Specialist

Position is responsible for the overseeing and performance of a broad spectrum of grounds maintenance related tasks specific to city sites consisting of city property, facilities and their associated greenspaces. Work is professional in nature and requires advanced and specialized educational knowledge and experience in weed identification, turf grass physiology, turf grass disease and insect identification, and cultural, chemical and other methods required to maintain and sustain healthy turf.

New hire pay range from $35,700 to $40,159 annually, DOQ plus generous benefits package.

Advanced knowledge via educational program(s) and experience of general grounds maintenance techniques is required in the performance of tasks that include (but are not limited to): site assessment and risk management, monitoring irrigation systems, performing basic irrigation system repairs, maintaining site appearance via leaf, trash and other debris removal, weed control, winter weather response for facility parking lots, sidewalks and building entrances, and ornamental bed and shrub maintenance either independently or in coordination with P&R Horticulturist. Tasks related to the position will require the knowledge and ability to perform skilled, technical oriented and professional quality grounds related work that will broadly encompasses maintaining the safety, functionality and appearance of the site. These are city sites specifically classified as non-park land with a specific list of responsible sites assigned as needed to meet the operational demands of the Parks and Recreation Department. The administration and supervision of a 3-5 member seasonal mow crew will be required. The position will also serve as the contract administrator for the city's turf maintenance contract which will include but is not limited to monitoring contractor for quality and compliance, verifying sites are completed, processing invoices for payment and responding to inquiries about site maintenance.
