Position is primarily responsible for the performance of semi-skilled to skilled horticultural, arboricultural and urban forestry work. Illustrative tasks for this position will include ornamental bed and planter maintenance, general landscape maintenance, landscape installation, arboricultural care that will include mulching trees and small tree pruning and removal, watering plant material and the planting of plant materials such as annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. Position may provide assistance in surveying for plant and tree health related problems, the performance of data collection and survey of horticultural and urban forestry related assets and assist in landscape design.

New hire ranges: $30,180 to 33,966 with generous benefit package

Primary duties of this position include (but are not limited to): positive and productive field direction of 2-5 seasonal park maintenance staff members or volunteers in the performance of assignments; Establish, cultivate and maintain City grounds, landscapes and trees through the effective application and performance of a variety of horticultural, landscaping and arboricultural techniques; Assist in the design, installation and/or renovation of landscapes; Perform preventative and basic (to intermediate) level maintenance of position related equipment and tools; Survey, monitor, assess and report on the site conditions of City grounds and landscapes, and plant material such as annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees; Respond to questions, comments or complaints from the general public regarding City landscapes; Assist in conducting research and performing estimates for plant and landscape materials; other duties within the scope of the position as needed for the benefit of the Parks & Recreation Department and City.
