Important Overview

Please be advised that the residential monthly rate will remain the same at $22.40 for year one of the new contract, which begins effective April 1, 2023. This is the first year of a new five year contract with Waste Management for residential trash, recycling, and yard waste disposal services.

Waste Management will no longer pick up trash or recycling left outside of the provided 96-gallon carts.

With automated collection, all materials must fit inside the provided trash or recycling cart with the lid closed – no extra bags, materials outside the cart, or resident-owned containers will be collected. Residents who need additional carts may request one from Waste Management for $2.50 per month. To request an additional cart or request a new cart, please contact Waste Management Customer Service at 1-800-964-8988. Please ensure that all containers are placed at the curb or alley and that no vehicles are parked in front of your carts and carts are not placed in front of ,or near, your mailbox.

Residents may continue to use resident-owned containers and paper bags for organic yard waste. Waste Management will provide each residential property with one 96-gallon cart for organic yard waste, at no cost, but they must be requested by contacting Waste Management Customer Service at 1-800-964-8988.

Trash Collection: 

Refuse shall be collected from the curbside one time (1x) per week from each Single-Family Premises. Collections shall occur during ordinary hours but in no instance earlier than 6 a.m. All refuse must be contained inside of a container provided by the company. No waste outside of the containers will be collected. Collection will occur at the front curb line except in areas of the City where alleys exist.  In these areas, collection will occur in the alley.

All Refuse, Recyclables and Organic Waste Containers must be placed at the curb or other designated location and ready for pick-up before 6:00 a.m. on the collection day; any Containers not collected because they are not at the curb or other designated location on time shall not be considered a missed pick-up. All complaints as to Waste Management’s provision of the Collection Services, including alleged missed pick-ups, shall be given prompt and courteous attention. Company shall attempt to resolve all complaints promptly and shall cure all missed pick-ups that are not the result of force majeure events within forty-eight (48) hours, conditions permitting. Containers with contamination or excluded materials will not be picked up. “Excluded Materials” means radioactive, volatile, corrosive, flammable, explosive, biomedical, infectious, bio-hazardous or toxic substance or material.

Electronics and Scrap Metal Recycling

The City of O'Fallon will also hold Electronics Recycling Events throughout the year. The next electronics and scrap metal drive will be held 9am-12pm at Amelia Carriel Junior High School with more details to come.
