CORRECTED: 2040 Master Plan Input Needed

NEWS FROM O'FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CORRECTED: O’Fallon, Illinois The City of O’Fallon has launched a process to gain public input on the 20-year master plan. The Master Plan will provide a vision and strategy for the City’s development now and for future generations. It will include an in-depth analysis with community input on impactful topics – from housing and jobs to parks and bike trails. The completed 2040 Master Plan will contain O’Fallon’s community vision, goals, objectives, strategies and future land use policies. The City is asking for community input (at www.buildofallon.com) to help build O’Fallon’s future.

“The 2040 Master Plan process makes it an exciting time to live and work in O’Fallon,” says Mayor Herb Roach.  “We’re creating a dynamic plan to build upon O’Fallon’s success and position our community as the best in Illinois and one of the nation’s best places to call home.”

In the coming weeks residents, businesses, and organizations will be asked about a variety of topics, including what neighborhoods should look like in 20 years, what type of businesses should be developed, and how much green space should O’Fallon have.

To make community participation fun and convenient, the City of O’Fallon is offering an easy-to-use online platform, www.buildofallon.com.  On the site, visitors can provide input and help guide the Master Planning process. We encourage everyone to participate.

Participants may check back regularly to the site to continue contributing views on topics such as community identity, safety and health, natural environment, the economy, and more.

In the future, the 2040 Master Plan will offer involvement opportunities with small group conversation kits, interactive mapping exercises, visual preference surveys, online discussion forums, and more.

The O’Fallon Master Plan was last updated in 2006. Since then, much as changed. A recession occurred, O’Fallon largely recovered and experienced tremendous growth in public and private investment during the past 15 years. The 2040 master planning process offers a unique opportunity to shape the city’s path forward. The process is expected to continue through spring 2021.
