NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois – Mayor Gary L. Graham and the City Council have issued a Proclamation declaring January 19, 2016 as Craig Schmidt Day in O’Fallon. The Proclamation is in honor of Craig’s 30 years of exemplary service to the O’Fallon community.

“Craig has demonstrated his selfless dedication and willingness to serve the citizens of the O’Fallon community for over 30 years,” said Mayor Graham. “We are all very gracious for the many sacrifices that Craig has made through his 30-year career protecting and serving the residents of the City of O’Fallon.”

Craig was sworn in as a volunteer firefighter on December 17, 1985. Since that day, he has excelled through the ranks to become the Assistant Fire Chief. Craig also serves full-time as the O’Fallon Fire Department’s Operations Technician.

Craig has served as the Fire Apparatus Committee Chairman for all fire apparatus design and implementation for more than half of his career. He has been a top 5% responder the majority of his time as a firefighter, and has volunteered countless hours to community events.
