CSX Receives Approval to Use Rail Lines in O’Fallon, Illinois to Transport a Limited Number of Railcars

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois The City of O’Fallon has been informed that CSX Transportation received approval from the Federal Railroad Administration to use the rail lines in O’Fallon, Illinois on a short-term basis to transport a limited number of railcars from areas east of O’Fallon to the west.

CSX is giving preliminary indication that the movements through O’Fallon may not happen until after January 1, 2019, but CSX is reserving the possibility of performing the move earlier, if possible. Ultimately, the Federal Railroad Administration permitted CSX until about April 12, 2019 to commence and complete movement of the rail cars.

Communities along the railroad lines may receive as little as a 24-hours’ notice of the intention to activate and use the lines.

When the City of O’Fallon receives notice that the lines will be used, we will make every attempt to update the community by issuing an alert through the CodeRED Emergency Notification System.
