Improvements on West Highway 50 Begin Monday, May 23, 2016

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois – Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that construction on West Highway 50, between Castle Acres Drive and Long Drive is scheduled to begin Monday, May 23, 2016. This project will consist of intersection and signal improvements on West Highway 50 at the intersections with Castle Acres Drive, Dean Drive and Long Drive, as well as the addition of a right turn lane for westbound traffic from the Sam’s Club entrance at Long Drive to the eastern Wal-Mart entrance. The work is scheduled to be completed by September 15, 2016.

During construction, each listed intersection and one eastbound lane adjacent to each intersection will be closed. In addition, one west bound lane will be closed from the entrance of Sam’s Club to the eastern entrance of Wal-Mart.

“We kindly ask our residents to be patient and considerate during this needed improvement project,” said Mayor Gary L. Graham. “Once completed, this project will vastly relieve traffic congestion in this important O’Fallon area.”

Detour routes are as follows:  Castle Acres can be accessed using the entrance on St. Ellen Mine Street, Dean Avenue can be accessed from Alice Avenue, and Long Drive can be accessed from Hartman Lane and Atlantic Drive.
