Missoula Children’s Theatre Auditions on April 18, 2016

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois – Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that the City of O’Fallon Arts Commission will be hosting its 16th Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) Residency in April. Auditions for the production of Rumpelstiltskin will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Katy Cavins Center in O’Fallon Community Park from 4 to 6 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive between 3:30 and 3:50 p.m. for registration and plan to stay for the full two hours. The group audition starts promptly at 4 p.m. No advance preparation is necessary. Some of the older cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.

Up to 60 roles will be cast to local children. Among the roles to be cast are Rumpelstiltskin, Queen Beatrice, Clara, a Jester, King Whatsat, Villagers, Gnomes, Wizards, Knights, and Bees. Students, Kindergarten through 12th grade, are encouraged to audition. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.

Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. There is no cost to audition for the play, but a tuition fee (which includes two show tickets) is required if cast: $50 for residents and $60 for nonresidents is due before 7 p.m. on April 18th to retain their role assignment. Scholarships based on financial need are available through the O’Fallon Parks & Recreation Department (contact Mary Jeanne Hutchison at 618.624.0139); please inquire in advance so that you may bring the proper paperwork on April 18th. Auditioning does not guarantee a part. Please do not try out if you do not intend to accept the role offered and be present and on time for all rehearsals. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 4 to 8:30 p.m. each day (a detailed rehearsal schedule for each role will be distributed on Monday, April 18th to those cast).

Rumpelstiltskin will be presented at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the O’Fallon High School Milburn Auditorium. Reserved-seat tickets will be on sale at Katy Cavins Community Center April 19th – 22nd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and at the OTHS Milburn Auditorium one hour before each performance. Tickets are $5 each.
