O’Fallon City Cemetery Walk Goes Virtual for 2020

NEWS FROM O'FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois The O’Fallon Historic Preservation Commission has adjusted their annual cemetery walk for this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, virtual house tours and portrayals of O’Fallon citizens are posted on You Tube at https://bit.ly/39QVU8Q  for viewing on your home computers or mobile devices.

Included in these videos are:

  • Tour and narrative of local landmark and O’Fallon’s first structure to be listed in the National Historic Register; the Brown Residence at 212 W. Washington.
  • Tour and narrative of a fine example of a Willard house and designated local landmark; the Mason residence at 109 Betty Lane built in 1914.
  • Tour and narrative of designated local landmark at 109 W. Washington, originally the home of blacksmith August Behrns.
  • Portrayal of former Mayor Joseph Taylor, owner of several O’Fallon area coal mines and builder of the Taylor Opera House at 220 E. State Street.
  • Portrayal of Tom Gordon, bank cashier at First State Bank located at 104 S. Cherry
