Storm Debris Policy for City of O'Fallon

NEWS FROM O'FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois – The City has received reports of storm debris after the storm occurring on the morning of June 17, 2022. The City of O’Fallon Public Works Department responds to calls for assistance from other City Departments to clear streets and public rights-of-way to ensure emergency services can be conducted without being impeded by storm debris. During storm recovery, City crews will only remove storm debris for disposal that is the result of debris by street and park trees defined by City ordinance.

Citizens should follow provisions of Waste Management Yard Waste Collection to dispose of storm debris on private property. Residents shall bundle, wrap, or contain storm debris in lengths not to exceed 4-feet in length with a combined weight of no more than 50-pounds per bundle. Tree limbs and branches less than six inches in diameter must be tied in bundles no larger than four foot long and 24 inches in diameter and weigh no more than 50 pounds.  Yard waste does not include dirt or rocks.Yard waste may be disposed of in paper bags or plastic trash cans.  Cans used for yard waste must be clearly marked with the words “Yard Waste Only.” “Yard Waste Only” stickers are available at O’Fallon City Hall located at 255 S. Lincoln Ave, O’Fallon, Illinois 62269 or by calling Waste Management.

Waste Management requests that anyone with over 20 bags/bundles, or five personal cans, or five poly-carts of yard waste call the Waste Management contact center (1-800-989-2783) 24-48 hours before their scheduled pick-up date to notify them of a large amount of yard waste to pick up.
