“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

Through the years of the History of the City of O’Fallon, Highway 50 has played an important role in the city’s development.  It serves an important role for both our citizens and our businesses.  That is why the study that we are doing on Highway 50 is extremely important to the future development of our community.

As our city grows and develops, we must look ahead 5, 10, 20 years down the road and be proactive and have a plan to move forward with vs waiting and being reactionary.

Last week we had the kick-off meeting for “FORWARD 50” and had very good attendance. But many people couldn’t attend, so I want to share with you 6 more important dates where you can get involved and share your thoughts on the future development of Rt. 50. Each of the next meetings will have a particular study area, before pulling it all back together for a full-scale plan. All of the meetings are held at City Hall from 5 to 7 PM.

  • October 19th.…………. Full study area
  • October24th ...……….West Area of study (the area between I-64 and W. 3rd St., Cambridge Blvd.)
  • October 26th...………. Central Area (Between W. 3rd St. and Weber Road)
  • November 7th .……..East Area ( Weber Rd. and Scott Troy intersection)
  • November 9th…………Full Study Area (Pull all of the ideas together)
  • December 5th…………Presentation of a draft plan open for comments and Input.

This roadway has come a long way from a mud pathway created by the buffalo traveling from east to west but now we must create the next phase of Rt.50 so that it properly serves you and the rest of our community for the future.

We have some very good engineers and other areas of expertise involved in this design, but your input and ideas are a very important part of this study, so I would ask you to please participate and share your thoughts.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
