Section Three - Cemetery Authority and Responsibilities

 

3.1       The City Clerk, in a book provided for such purpose, shall keep a permanent record of those interred, lot ownership and lots sold. The office of the City Clerk will work with the Director of Parks and 3.1 Recreation from time to time as to the policies to be pursued and laws necessary for the efficient operation of the City Cemetery. (Code of Ordinances, Title IX, Chapter 92: Cemetery).3.1

           Cemetery rules are not made to interfere with your rights; they are imposed to protect the interest of all lot owners and to promote the general harmony to the benefit of all.   

3.2       The Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for the maintenance of the cemetery and the performance of interments upon the receipt of a grave opening request from the office of the City Clerk.   Normal cemetery maintenance operating hours, unless posted otherwise, are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays designated by the City of O’Fallon.  

3.3       The office of the City Clerk maintains interment and lot ownership records.   Lot sales are also conducted by the office of the City Clerk.   Notice of funerals and orders for opening graves may be obtained and are received by the Office of the City Clerk at O’Fallon City Hall during regularly scheduled office hours.       

3.4       The City reserves the right to enter upon any lot to enforce applicable rules and regulations and perform all work necessary for the care and upkeep of all cemetery lots and graves.
