Evangel University Sinfonia
The Evangel University Sinfonia will appear in concert at O’Fallon Assembly of God, 1400 North Green Mount Road, O’Fallon on Sunday, March 26th @ 10 am, the Rev. Donald Andreasen has announced.
The repertoire of the Sinfonia includes classical, sacred and contemporary Christian arrangements for orchestra, as well as various arrangements for voices with orchestral accompaniment.
Over the past 27 years, the Sinfonia has toured extensively throughout the 48 contiguous United States and Canada. The orchestra has also traveled to Europe on five different occasions performing in 11 European nations.
In addition, the group has recorded 12 compact discs. The orchestra appeared in 2001 and 2007 on the Canadian television program “100 Huntley Street,” which has an estimated 15.4 million viewers.
Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of the Sinfonia, has served on the Evangel University faculty since 1988. An accomplished conductor and violinist, Dissmore holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wichita State University and from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
The Department of Music at Evangel University offers majors in music education, music performance, recording technology and worship leadership. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
