All O’Fallon Water Customers Currently Under a Boil Order Until Further Notice

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
O'Fallon Water Service Area 2017

O’Fallon, Illinois - August 28, 2017 All O’Fallon water customers, including those in O’Fallon and Fairview Heights, are currently under a boil water order until further notice. The boil order is a result of a water main break, that has been repaired, at the intersection of Highway 50 and Mark Drive.

If you receive a water bill from the City of O’Fallon, you are currently under a boil order, until further notice.

According to the Center for Disease Control, during boil water advisories or boil water orders, you should boil all water used for drinking, preparing food, beverages, ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, or brushing teeth.

Water should be placed in a heat-resistant container or in an electric kettle and brought to a rolling boil for one minute to kill all disease-causing organisms.

Water can also be boiled in a microwave oven using a microwave-safe container, but it is advisable to include a glass rod or wooden or plastic stir stick in the container to prevent the formation of superheated water (water heated above its boiling point, without the formation of steam). The water should then be cooled and poured into a clean container or refrigerated until you are ready to use it.

The O’Fallon Public Works Department will continue to monitor its water supply and notify customers when the boil order has been lifted.

We will provide more information when it becomes available.
