2020/12/21 - Mayor's Column: Happy Holidays

An Open Door to O’Fallon”
A Weekly Note from Mayor Herb Roach

I want to wish everyone a VERY SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS. I hope that each of you will have the opportunity to be with family and/or friends either in person or virtually.

Even though this Christmas will not have all the parades and social activities that we normally enjoy during this time of the year, we can all enjoy it in our own special ways with our families and friends.

We are all so very fortunate to be in a country where we have the freedoms to celebrate our religious holidays without fear of reprisal.

For my family and me, the joy of Christmas already arrived with the birth of our Grandson, Jackson Randle Roach on December 13th.

Baby Jackson, Mom (Jackie), and Dad (Todd) are doing well, as is Jackson’s 4 sisters. Jackson will need some help growing up with four older sisters!

For me, this is another one of the wonderful blessings that I have been so fortunate to receive.  My wife and I are so fortunate to be able to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jackson with our two daughters, our son, and their families, which include 9 other grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

I also want to say THANK YOU to all our Public Safety and Health Care workers for their tireless efforts despite the challenges they faced during this year. And a big thank you to their families for sharing them with us while they look out for us during the Holidays and throughout the year.

And THANK YOU to O’Fallon for your giving ways.  During the past month, at least a dozen of you have asked me how they could help make Christmas brighter for those less fortunate. This community’s generosity amazes me every year!

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open (virtually, at least)!
