2021/08/09 - Mayor's Column: City Fest 2021

“An Open Door to O’Fallon”
A Weekly Note from Mayor Herb Roach

City Fest is just around the corner. On August 20 & 21, 2021, we will have the 3rd City Fest Celebration at the O’Fallon Community Park.  The Committee has been working on this steadily since last year’s festivities that had to be cancelled due the COVID restrictions that were in place at that time.

This festival has been established to help bring our entire community together to celebrate and give many of our not-for-profits, school programs, churches and local businesses an opportunity to raise funds for their causes.

Both days will include music, rides, food, refreshments, and games.

Here is a brief outline of the activities:

Friday, August 20, 2021 - Festivities Start at 4 p.m. and go until 10 p.m.

Saturday, August 21, 2021 - Activities go from 8 a.m.to 10 p.m.

Here is the schedule:

  • Triathlon begins at 8 a.m.
  • The Sonny Sterthman Memorial Car Show goes from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • There will be a “quiet hour” for those with special needs from 1 to 2 p.m.
  • The City Fest Parade will step off from North Lincoln down to 7th Street and into the park, beginning at 5 p.m.

We have 60 entries in the parade, including the President of the Rose Bowl Parade.

The committee has taken many precautions to make sure that you will have a safe and enjoyable time with family and friends. This includes additional restrooms, hand washing stations, additional lighting and more.

We are still looking for some additional volunteers, so if you have two hours to give toward this community activity, please e-mail [email protected] and put Volunteer in the subject line to sign up, your help is appreciated.

I would like to say THANK YOU to all our Sponsors for their generosity.  We will have signs and advertisements to let you know who has helped to make this festival possible.  But I want to give a shoutout to the Bank of O’Fallon for being the major City Fest Sponsor and to Waste Management for being the Parade Sponsor.

And THANK You to all of those that have already volunteered to help.

I hope to see you there.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open!
