“An Open Door to O’Fallon”
A Weekly Note from Mayor Herb Roach

I just wanted to take a minute to share with you some of the information just released from the 2020 Census. In comparison to the 2010 Census:

  • The State of Illinois is down about 18,000 residents to a total population of 12,812,508.
  • St. Clair County is down about 12,600 residents for a total population of 257,400.
  • Madison County is down about 3,400 residents for a total population of 265,850.

Of the seven cities in St. Clair and Madison County with a population greater than 20,000:

  • O’ Fallon is up 4,008 residents for a total population of 32,289.
  • Edwardsville is up 2,515 for a total of 26,808.
  • Collinsville is down 1,200 for a total of 24,293.
  • Belleville is down 2,000 for a total of 42,404.
  • Alton is down 2,200 for a total of 25,676.
  • Granite City is down 2,300 for a total of 27,549.
  • E. St. Louis is down 8,500 for a total of 18,469.

The seven largest cities in St. Clair County make up over 61% of the County Population.

  • Belleville at 42,404
  • O’Fallon at 32,289
  • E. St. Louis at 18,469
  • Fairview Heights at 16,706
  • Swansea at 14,386
  • Shiloh at 14,098
  • Cahokia at 12,096

O’Fallon had the largest population growth of any city in Southern Illinois. We grew by 4,008 or over 14% since the 2010 census.

This growth is due to the hard work and effort of the City Council, Staff, the cooperation and help of our citizens & businesses and those that came before us that laid a good foundation over the years.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open!
