“An Open Door to O’Fallon”
A Weekly Note from Mayor Herb Roach

I want to start by saying THANK YOU to everyone that helped with City Fest: the City Fest Committee, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, Public Safety Department, Parks Department, Finance Department, other City Staff and all of those that took part in our City Fest Celebration.   I hope that everyone enjoyed it and had a good time!

In just a few days we will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of September 11th. Let us not forget the lives lost by so many on that day and the heroic acts that prevented further loss of life.  That includes all the first responders that went into the burning buildings and the passengers aboard Flight 93 that took action to prevent further loss of life.

And let us not forget those who lost their lives during the cowardly attack.  We must always be grateful and should never take for granted the freedoms that we enjoy.

Over the past few months, O’Fallon and many other communities on both sides of the river have been hit by youth that are going through neighborhoods late at night to look for unlocked vehicles to hit and move on.  Here in O’Fallon, we have had 20 cars stolen since January 1st, a vast majority of them were unlocked and had keys in them.

I would like to again urge people to lock their cars at night and remove any valuables from plain site.  Having easy access to your car and valuables just makes it more attractive for criminals to return to a city and neighborhood.

Our police have caught some of them and have recovered some of the stolen property and cars, but they can’t be in every neighborhood at the same time.

Thank you for your assistance.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open!
