2022/05/16 - Mayor's Column: Welcome Andrea Fohne

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

At the May 16, 2022, meeting, the O’Fallon City Council approved the appointment of Andrea Fohne as the new Ward Three Council Member.

Across the country, many local elected positions remain empty at election time because there are not enough people that show interest in serving. That is not the case with the opening we had for the Ward Three position on the City Council.  We had five citizens of Ward Three step up and show interest in serving our city.

All the candidates brought different types of expertise and experience to be considered for the opening which was created by the tragic death of Mr. Kevin Hagarty.

Miss Fohne knows Ward Three well. She has lived there for most of her life. She is a graduate of McKendree University with a Major in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Psychology.

She is not a stranger to helping and serving the city and our residents. While attending College, she worked for the O’Fallon Police Department as a Records Clerk and a part-time 911 Dispatcher.  During her employment, she received letters of Commendation from both the O’Fallon and Fairview Heights Police Departments and a Distinguished Service Award from the Shiloh Police Department.

In addition to these local activities, she has also demonstrated her ability to work with others and her leadership as a volunteer with the O’Fallon Sportsman’s Club, the O’Fallon Township Youth Committee, The Friends of the O’Fallon Public Library (Director), the O’Fallon Historical Society (Vice President) and Chair of the O’Fallon Historical Preservation Commission.

Through her involvement with the City’s 2040 Master plan, she has demonstrated her eye for the future development of O’Fallon.

We welcome Andrea to the O’Fallon City Council!

Again, I want to THANK all of those that showed interest in serving the city and hope that they will continue to do so.  They all had plusses that they bring to O’Fallon.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
