2022/10/17 - Mayor's Column: Trick Or Treat

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

We are just two weeks to Halloween, and I want to share some information on TRICK- or-TREATING in O’Fallon.

WHEN IS IT: Monday, October 31st from 6 to 9 PM

ADVISE FOR Trick-or-Treaters:

  • Only approach homes that are well-lit. Please pass by any locations that do not have lights on.
  • Watch for cars that are turning or backing up.
  • Use the sidewalks when possible.
  • Don’t dart out into a street.
  • Don’t dart out from between parked cars.
  • Stay in familiar areas.
  • Try to go in small groups vs alone.
  • Cross at street corners.

ADVICE FOR HOMEOWNERS:

  • If you are welcoming trick-or-treaters, leave your porch and/or driveway lights on.
  • If you don’t want trick-or treaters, please turn off your porch and/or driveway lights during Halloween.
  • Make sure that your walkways are clear of any tripping hazards.
  • If you have pets, please take precautions so they don’t get out and chase or bite a child at your door.

ADVICE FOR DRIVERS:

  • Please slow down and take extra precautions to look out for children walking near the streets that you are on.

I hope everyone has a SAFE and ENJOYABLE Halloween.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
