“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

This week, we are seeing a change in the weather and that means several things here in the city:

  1. Most of the road work will soon be wrapping up. In the cold winter months, materials used to build roads become less available.
  2. We will get prepared for any precipitation that will cause our drivers serious problems. Snow and ice come in waves. When winter weather hits, our staff is on full deployment and works incredibly hard to keep the roadways safe.
  3. The rest of the leaves will be coming down.  We need your help to keep the leaves out of the streets and from blocking the storm drains.  This can cause some serious safety problems.  All your leaves will be picked up by Waste Management if you bag them or place them in appropriate containers for yard waste.  This included in your monthly fee.

Other things that are occurring in the city are:

  1. We are busy working on the annual budgets for the next fiscal year.
  2. We have completed work on our 5-year Capital Improvement Plan.
  3. Christmas Decorations are going up.
  4. Floats are being decorated and final arrangements are being made for the Lighted Holiday Parade, which will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 6 PM.
  5. We are gearing up for the mailings that you will receive from Ameren and Constellation about the change in electric providers. If you want to stay with the firm that gave our consortium of cities the lowest rate you do not have to do anything. You will be switched between December and February from Homefield Energy to Ameren and then to Constellation automatically.
  6. The city is going out for bid on our Waste Hauling.  Our current contract with Waste Management ends the end of March.
  7. We have also gone out for bid on our property, liability and worker’s compensation insurances.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
