“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH
I would like to take a moment to discuss two popular activities and one new series of events that will be occurring over the next few months for the enjoyment of our citizens.
- June 1st is the first of a series of new family friendly concerts to be held downtown, for the enjoyment of our citizens and guests. This will take place along 1st Street. Some road closures will be necessary for the safety of those in attendance, so please watch for these in the afternoon and evening of these events. You can bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music. The events open at 5 PM and live music will go from 6 to 9 PM. The other two concerts will be held on July 6th and August 3rd.
- The City will host its 5th Annual Fireworks Display at Sports Park on Monday, July 3rd. Please plan to arrive early for good parking. Some of our residents have said that they prefer to park at Hesse Park to see the display. It should be noted that Venita Drive will be closed shortly before the Fireworks Display begins and will remain closed during the display for safety precautions. Please observe any areas that are marked for no parking. This is done strictly for the safety of our citizens.It is discouraged to sit on or near the walking path on the west side of the park because of the proximity to the fireworks.
- Later this summer, the 5th Annual City Fest picnic will be held at Community Park on August 25th and 26th. City Fest will include entertainment, games, rides, food and refreshments for the entire family in a very safe environment. City Fest will also include a Triathlon Race on the morning of Saturday August 26th, a Car Show beginning the morning of August 26th and running through early afternoon, and the City Fest Parade beginning at 5 PM on the 26th.
The entire Festival is put on through the generosity of our Volunteers and Sponsors. If you are interested in volunteering for a few hours during the parade or picnic help is greatly appreciated. Please contact the City Fest Committee at [email protected]
