2023/07/17 - Mayor's Column: Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

We have had two of our three Downtown District Nights with live music, and they have received a lot of very positive comments.  The big line of credit goes to our Parks Department’s Sarah Burton, The Downtown District, the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce, and the many volunteers that have helped.

Over the course of the next few months, we are going to have more opportunities for people to volunteer and like the District Nights make more successes that we can enjoy and be proud of.

One of the things that has always set O’Fallon apart from other communities is the volunteerism of our citizens and businesses. During the next few months, we are going to need some help on a few local activities.

It won’t be long now before we will be asking for volunteers to help with the assembly of the All Childrens Playground at the Community Park.  If you are interested, please call the O’Fallon Parks Department and ask for Pearl Gibson or email me at [email protected].  Many of you have already signed up and that is greatly appreciated.

Then on August 25th and 26th we will hold our 5th City Fest. It is a fun time for families to come out and enjoy the rides, car show, triathlon, entertainment, food and refreshments.  This great Family and Community activity needs volunteers to help make it the activity it is.  If you have a couple of hours on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, we can use your help.  It could be putting up stands, helping with parking, helping with the parade, clean up and more. If you can give a couple of hours contact [email protected]

Then over the next few months the study of Route 50 will be taking place and there will be several opportunities to give us your feedback on the future development of Rt. 50 through various forms of Public Engagement.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
