2023/12/04 - Mayor's Column: Holiday Season

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

As we move into the final month of 2023, I wanted to bring you up to date on some things happening in O’Fallon.

But first, I want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to Beth Ortega and her Band of Merry Helpers for the fantastic “Illuminated Holiday Parade”.  It was a parade to remember and a great way to kick off the Holiday Season.

Now, onto the updates:

  • On Tuesday, December 5th is one of the last opportunities to give feedback and see some of the ideas previously discussed for Rt. 50.  This meeting is from 5PM to 7 PM at City Hall. The designers on the project will announce some of the ideas they have put together.

  • On Saturday, December 9th from 8 to 11 AM at Carriel Jr. High there is Breakfast with Santa, which is sponsored by our Police Department.

  • Also on Saturday, December 9th from 2 to 6 PM, the Downtown District will be busy with the Vine Street Winter Market and Home for the Holidays winter celebration.

  • The O’Fallon Moose are holding a Community Breakfast with Santa at the O’Fallon American Legion on Dec. 10th from 8:30 to 11:30 AM

  • On December 16th at the O’Fallon Station, enjoy an evening with Santa.  Santa will be there to receive input from the children and there will be hot chocolate, crafts, coloring, and a professional photographer for you to take home a photo with Santa. This event is from 4 to 7 PM.

  • The City Council will vote on December 4th and 18th on the City Real-estate tax.

  • The Road construction being done by the State on Highway 50 is in the final stages with cooperation from the weather, it should all be done prior to Christmas.

  • As you may have seen by now the St. Jude Christmas tree lot has been moved to the parking lot across from City Hall on Lincoln.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
