2023/12/11 - Mayor's Column: Groundwork for a Bright Future

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

As we prepare for the busy holidays, I would like to let you know that our city continues to look ahead with projects that are going to help our city continue to grow in an organized manner.

This includes growth of new citizens, new businesses, and the improvements to our infrastructure that will support not only our existing citizens and businesses, but also for those in the future. This is all part of what I call smart growth.

Two weeks ago, I talked about the planning that the City does for the future development of your city. Over the next two weeks, I will share with you how we are being looked at financially by Global Ratings because of our planning and what kind of new developments you will see getting underway in 2024 that has already been approved by the Planning Commission and the City Council.

This has been accomplished by a lot of very good work by many different groups such as:

  • Our City Planning Commission
  • Our Police and Fire Commissioners
  • Our City Council
  • Our City Staff
  • All the Volunteers, Businesses and Organizations that serve the city in many ways.

What we have going doesn’t happen by itself. It happens because of a lot of planning and hard work of many.

I also want to remind you that:

  • City Hall will be closed on December 25th   and    January 1st.
  • The Committee meetings normally held on December 25th have been canceled.
  • And our January City Council Meeting for January 1 has been moved to January  2nd but this could also be canceled, depending on the items to be dealt with.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
