2024/01/16 - Mayor's Column: Advocating and Coming Together for Our Citizens

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

This week, we celebrated the life of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was so very impactful in his work for change and how he went about it. He was a force for freedom and equal rights for all.

But what made him stand out was his approach to accomplishing his goals. He was a firm believer and advocate for people to come together for peaceful approaches to some of society’s most serious problems.

In O’Fallon, we are so very fortunate to have a City Council and Staff that advocate for our citizens and come together to develop approaches that allow us to get things done and move our city forward.

This was brought to mind as I reviewed a rating of peoples’ first thoughts on the City of St. Louis. This was posted in a recent article. In the article, among those things that first come to people’s minds were CRIME…… CITY IN DECLINE…… EMPTY, DIRTY, ROUGH DOWNTOWN……. AND GOVERNMENT/POLITICS RELATED ISSUES

It made me truly appreciate what our city continues to accomplish because we work together for the benefit of everyone. But this only happens because our Council and Staff work for the overall benefit of our community.

Our Public Safety Department is always striving to improve in what they do. Our Community Development Department strives to maintain a clean and progressive city that is attractive to families and businesses. And our Public Works Department works to maintain and improve our city’s infrastructure. Plus, the work of our Parks & Recreation Department that works to have excellent sports and recreational facilities available in our city for our citizens.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
