2024/03/12 - Mayor's Column: Construction and Additional Updates for You

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

Last week, I gave you an update on some of the events occurring during March here in O’Fallon.  This week is an update on the status of some of the new construction, plus some other updates of things that will be taking place here in O’Fallon during this year:

  • We will start with the new Starbucks going in on the old Southview Plaza Area. We have been informed that some sitework could start as early as this week.
  • The outdoor fitness equipment has arrived and will be starting to be installed shortly at the Family Sports Park.
  • Construction on the new walking paths at Community Park is underway.
  • Bids are in for the new swimming pool area at the Community Park .  I was very happy to see some of our local businesses be very proactive in this new development.  This will be the 3rd of a series of new developments to take place at the Community Park over the next two years.
  • The bids for the new pickleball courts at Hesse Park will be going out within the next few days.
  • The new Outback Steakhouse will be opening in April.  It has been delayed due to a delivery of some equipment.
  • Construction continues the new residential development on the east side of South Lincoln.
  • New temporary traffic calming methods will start to be put in place on Pierce over the next few weeks.
  • The new O’Fallon City Budget will be finalized this month and go to the City Council for a vote in April.
  • Work is proceeding on the Forward 50 Plans.
  • To get more updates on new road construction, new Parks Department developments, a summary of the new budget and the new City Real-Estate Tax Rate join us for the Town Hall Meeting on April 10th.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
