2024/03/19 - Mayor's Column: Changes for You, Our Citizens

“AN OPEN DOOR TO O’FALLON”
A WEEKLY NOTE FROM MAYOR HERB ROACH

Over the last few years, we have tried many different things to make it easier for our citizens and businesses to be able to communicate and get information that they need. When you read the last paragraph in each of my articles about wanting good communications, I really mean it. Here is a small list of the things we have changed and NEW CITY HALL HOURS for your convenience:

  1. Expanded the time at City Council meetings for people to express their thoughts.
  2. I’m personally available daily at City Hall.
  3. I hold Quarterly Town Hall meetings and other in person meetings to inform citizens of what is going on in the city.
  4. We have improved our ability to broadcast our Council Meetings with new equipment which allows us to use various lines of communications.
  5. We now also broadcast our committee meetings as well.
  6. We hold regular meetings with local churches, county board members and others to see how we can better work together and assist people.
  7. I personally send a letter to each new resident welcoming them to O’Fallon.
  8. We have improved our signage, website, and automated many of the forms for services that people can do online instead of having to come in.
  9. You can file online requests for needed repairs for sidewalks, streets, streetlights and more through our O’Fallon On Demand App.
  10. Now, we want to announce that we are trying out new and expanded hours at City Hall to better serve you. Starting for a 6-month trial period, City Hall is open from 7 AM to 5:15 PM. It is our hope that these expanded hours will make it easier to come in person or call for information or services that you may need. At the end of six-months, we will reevaluate the benefit added by these expanded hours and determine if it becomes permanent.

As residents of O’Fallon, you should always be able to reach out to your elected officials and ask questions about what is happening in O’Fallon. Having open communications is important to me and something I care very deeply about. Thank you for reading, and please remember, my door is always open.
