Fatal Traffic Crash

On Tuesday November1, 2022 at 7:37 AM O’Fallon Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the intersection of Scott Troy Rd at Armsleigh for a two-vehicle crash.   Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered 20-year-old, Damonta Chandler of O’Fallon deceased from injuries suffered in the crash.  Preliminary investigation revealed Chandler was turning left onto S/B Scott Troy Road from Armsleigh Place.  His vehicle, a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu, was struck on the driver’s side by a 2002 Ford Ranger traveling N/B on Scott Troy Road.  The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old male from O’Fallon was not injured in the crash.

Witness information and evidence suggests Chandler, who was not wearing a seat belt, failed to yield to oncoming traffic.   Illinois State Police were requested and responded to the scene to assist with a traffic crash reconstruction.  A full report is pending completion of their investigation.
