At about 1:00am, Sunday morning, O'Fallon First Responders, were dispatched to a residential fire in the 1500 block of English Pine. Upon arrival, they found one side of the duplex to be fully engulfed in flames. The fire was contained and based on evidence at the scene, investigators believed it was intentionally set. There were no injuries and it was determined the duplex was unoccupied at the time.

An investigation into the incident, led to the arrest of 27-year-old, Delfred D. Jones, late Sunday evening. Detectives learned the resident and Delfred had just met a few hours prior to the incident. Delfred had been invited back to the duplex by the resident. The fire was later started following a disagreement between individuals at the duplex. Detectives do not believe anyone was inside the residence when the fire originated.

On Tuesday, the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged Delfred with one count of Residential Arson. Delfred was transported to the St. Clair County Jail pending additional court proceedings.
