Police Respond to Bowling Alley Shooting

Police Respond to Bowling Alley Shooting

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 9:44pm, the O’Fallon Police Department, along with multiple surrounding agencies, responded to the St. Clair Bowl for a report of shots being fired inside the business. Officers arrived and learned there had been an altercation between two subjects in the main floor common area which led to an exchange of gunshots. Two uninvolved patrons were struck by stray bullets to their lower extremities.

The gunshot victims were transported by O’Fallon EMS to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The shooters left prior to police arrival.

Police responded to the bowling alley earlier, in the evening, due to large fights involving juveniles occurring inside the business and in the parking lot. There were no serious injuries during the fight and most of the juveniles departed upon police arrival. It is unknown at this time if there is any connection between the first group of juveniles and the individuals involved in the shooting.

There have been some concerns expressed on social media about a female holding a hammer during one of the altercations. Police were not made aware of the hammer upon their initial response and there have been no reports of injuries with the hammer.

The scene was processed by the Illinois State Police. Several shell casings were recovered from various locations inside the business.

Detectives are actively working on the investigation. We are conducting interviews and reviewing video surveillance to identify witnesses and individuals involved in the shooting.

We appreciate the response and assistance from surrounding police agencies.
